Welcome to the Ottery St Mary Town Website
Known locally as 'Ottery', Ottery St Mary is situated approximately 10 miles East of Exeter on the B3174. It is notable for many things, the most well known being that it is the birthplace of Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. His father, Rev. John Coleridge was the local vicar.
The beautiful parish church has been referred to as a 'miniature Exeter cathedral' and has a distinctive painted roof. Inside there are 10 misericords which date back to the building of the church in 1350. There are also two medieval carved stone green men inside.
